I started high school frustrated. I hated reading and my reading glasses were about as helpful as telling a dead person to wake up. Anywho I went to my annual eye appointment but there was a new doctor. He looked at me and recommended I go get a consult with Dr. Dudley. After the examination it turned out that my vision issues went far past just having a hard time reading. While I was experiencing similar symptoms to dyslexia my problem was with my eyes and not my brain. I had 20/20 vision but my eyes couldn’t work together to create a clear image of the world. I couldn’t see 3D and had warped and double vision. But the weirdest thing was that my whole life I had no idea I saw differently than anyone else. I’ve been seeing this way my whole life so it’s all I knew.

40 weeks later: I have no double or warped vision. Seeing 3D for the first time was probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever done. It’s like the world is popping out at me and I’m still not sure I’m used to it. I’m not sure there are the right words to explain it. Like what I saw wasn’t real. This is the sort of thing they catch when you’re a little kid but there I was 14, straight-A honors student with a blindfold I didn’t even know I had on.
